Aloalto Foods is a startup founded in 2022 in Barcelona. Through indoor vertical farming, it produces the Japanese strawberry OKU Berry under fully controlled conditions, recreating the climate of the Asian country in the heart of Barcelona.

The challenge was to develop innovative packaging with an unboxing experience that went beyond its protective function. We have created a packaging design inspired by the furoshiki, the traditional Japanese cloth used to wrap and carry objects. The cloth thus becomes a complement in its own right. An illustration of a strawberry, in a casual and expressive style, covers the entire format and evokes the grandeur of Mount Fuji.

Inside, the packaging contains the OKU Berry, originally from Japan and recognised as one of the world’s most prized varieties. It also includes an accordion-style booklet describing the characteristics of the fruit. In this way, the packaging reinforces the project’s uniqueness and premium character.

With this concept, we transform the brand experience into a tangible added value: the wrapping becomes a unique, memorable, and desirable piece.
